Funky New Orleans Wedding Venues: Parlor at the Pontchartrain & more…

There are so many wedding venues right in New Orleans. Just outside the French Quarter there are a few funky New Orleans wedding venues that are absolutely stunning. From a Lil Wayne portrait in the Parlor at the Pontchartrain to a venue made from a piece of the Eiffel Tower, these are the best funky New Orleans wedding venues.

Although Mardi Gras is the perfect time to visit New Orleans, coming for a destination wedding is certainly a second best.  Although we love some of the venues like Jack Rose, and some of the larger 2,790-foot venue with historic toile wallpaper all illuminated during receptions, here are some of the best funky New Orleans wedding venues.

There are hundreds of wedding venues in the New Orleans area ranging from beautiful glam ballrooms to cozy French Quarter courtyards.  New Orleans is a funky city so why go with something normal and easy to find in other locations — ham it up with some of New Orleans funkiest venues.

As weddings become less and less traditional, finding funky New Orleans wedding venues has become super easy — particularly given that New Orleans is a vibrant city.

Historic Funky New Orleans Wedding Venue: The Eiffel Society

The Eiffel Society: 2040 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130

Just across the street from the Pontchartrain is the Eiffel Society. A historic venue, the exterior highlights a piece of the Eiffel Tower. The interior is a stunning, immaculate ballroom that fits up to 300 people.

You could either go glam at this venue and bring in tons of wedding flowers and beautiful linens or go simple and elegant with just candles for centerpieces.  The venue offers so many options for something tucked away just outside of the French Quarter.

Have your guests take the trolley into the Quarter after your wedding is over for a bar crawl on Bourbon Avenue.  Make sure to check out Cafe du Monde for both cafe and beignets after your brunch or on the morning of your wedding.  You could also have beignets delivered for your wedding “cake” as a nod to New Orleans culture.

The venue offers a lot of included details that make New Orleans destination weddings super easy to pull off. Walkable to multiple hotels (Hotel Indigo, Wyndham, and Pontchartrain) it’s a great location for a destination wedding.

Funky Hotel Wedding Venue: The Parlor at the Pontchartrain

Pontchartrain Hotel, 2031 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130

The Parlor at the Pontchartrain is an eclectic, old-world funky ass hotel in New Orleans — just across the street from the Eiffel Society. With a portrait of Lii’ Wayne as the centerpiece in a wall of art, the room is easy to come in for a wedding and go. You don’t need decor, or really anything for this venue — it is it’s own vibe all on it’s own.

The Pontchartrain Hotel itself is one of the most beautiful and unique hotels in New Orleans.  With individually decorated rooms, the hotel shares so much of the culture with your guests.  Head out to the French Quarter from the Hotel on the trolley anytime of day.  Start out with a rehearsal dinner in the Quarter, and take a bar crawl after, hitting all of the incredible locations in the French Quarter.

Host a welcome party in the Pontchartrain and take a trolley out to other parts of New Orleans to shop, see the museums and find a jazz club.  In New Orleans there are tons of options for entertainment in New Orleans: hit a drag show, a jazz club, a burlesque show, or even a tarot reading for your guests.

Inside the Parlor at the Pontchartrain, you’ll find concrete floors and french toile wallpaper, and crystal chandeliers suspended from the vaulted ceilings.

The perfect location for a destination wedding, the space doesn’t require any work or to do’s. There are a variety of locations within the hotel to use, making it a perfect venue to host the rehearsal dinner, wedding reception AND the going away brunch.

The Pontchartrain is a historic hotel that started as an apartment building in 1927 right on Charlest St and the carnival route.  The 106-room luxury suite hotel makes several nods to the historic building and location.

Just a hop skip and a jump from the French Quarter, the venue is easy for folks who haven’t been to New Orleans. The trolley is just outside, with a coffee shop down the street and many other amenities within walking distance.

Suspended from the peak of the skylights are beautiful plants, with chandeliers from the peak of vaulted ceilings create a beautiful event space that doesn’t require decor.  The rooms are illuminated by a spine of crystal chandeliers. Unlike some of the venues with historic brick walls, the Parlow at the Pontchartrain is covered in toile wallpaper.

Just down the street from both venues is the House of Broel. An eclectic venue with a dollhouse museum, the House is a classic New Orleans venue, with a touch of funk from the dollhouse museum and fashion museum.  This event space has a homier, cozier feel than most of the venues in New Orleans.

One of my favorite parts of New Orleans is how there are eclectic little museums, with historic brick walls, dotting the city.  This happens to be one of my favorite weird little places where you can check out old creepy dolls on the second floor.

The Hotel is a gorgeous, preserved piece of history. Enjoy a courtyard wedding at the House of Broel with a reception inside the Mansion.  An all-inclusive wedding venue, the House of Broel offers intimate wedding packages for two starting at $995, and for 20 people starting at $1995.  For a destination wedding in New Orleans, the House of Broel is an affordable, easy option.

No matter where you get married in New Orleans, expect an amazing experience.  The Big Easy is filled with Southern charm and hospitality and vibrance.  New Orleans has some of the best food, best music, and best art — tucked away in tiny historic neighborhoods.
