Let’s talk about one of our favorite Newport RI wedding venues: Gurney’s Newport! Although we love all the best Newport wedding venues: Hotel Viking, Fort Adams, Eisenhower House, Newport Yachting Center, Belle Mer — there’s just something magical about Gurney s Newport RI. With breathtaking views for your dream wedding, it’s the ideal location for a destination wedding. With everything you need for an epic rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and wedding reception, wedding planning here is a breeze!
Gurney’s Newport Hotel and Resort
The resort features large rooms with ocean views and beautiful suites. Definitely snag a large suite with adjoining rooms for you and your wedding party to enjoy the weekend of your wedding. With plenty of square feet, the suites are perfect for large wedding parties to get ready in or even for a small elopement looking for a bougie hotel room.
Like going back in time to the gilded age, Gurney’s Newport features all the best things you’d find on an old wooden sailboat — lots of beautiful teak and hardware. With sprawling property seconds to the heart of Newport, Thames Street, you’re guests will have a blast getting to know Newport RI and celebrating your wedding day.
Not like those country clubs
Gurney’s Newport is nothing like country clubs or other boring wedding venues. With an outdoor and indoor pool, a marina on the property, a restaurant, and more, your guests will be busy all weekend enjoying all that Newport has to offer. Have your wedding day out on the lawn, surrounded by Newport Harbor. With views of the Aquidneck Bridge, enjoy an outdoor ceremony and reception right on the property.
With tons of amenities right on-site, you’ll have no reason to leave the Gurney’s property but if you are tempted, there are tons of amazing restaurants just over the bridge on Thames Street, the Cliff Walk isn’t that far, and IYRS is a short drive.
A Perfect Destination Wedding Venue in Newport RI Destination
With ample amenities and space in the luxury hotel suites, you have the perfect spot for an extended vacation/destination wedding at Gurney’s Newport. The best part about this venue is you’ll be able to visit for years to come — making it a start to a family vacation tradition. With so much close by, America s Cup charters, restaurants, beaches, and more — there’s plenty to do for a week or a weekend at Gurney’s.
Bring together your favorite friends and family not just for a day but for a weekend (or week) at Gurney’s Newport. By extending your celebrations with just the closest folks, you’ll be able to share intimate moments and have extended conversations about your special day.
The Hotel Rooms at Gurney’s Newport
The hotel rooms at Gurney’s Newport are super large. Some of the suites offer kitchenettes and full kitchens, with large dining and living spaces to entertain friends and family. Many of the rooms offer adjoining rooms, and some of the property will feel more intimate as it’s a little more secluded than the main building.
The rooms are all large, many with balconies and ocean views. Enjoy mini-fridges in every room, as well as full bathrooms with large bathtubs and showers, and Netflix/Hulu on the TV. We’re a huge fan of the robes that the resort gives you for your stay.
Wedding Vendors in Newport RI
We have a few favorite wedding vendors in Newport RI. It’s easy to fall in love with some of these folks who do so much for the LGBTQ+ community and for clients alike. Being a team player is such a helpful part of being a great wedding vendor. We have loved working with the following vendors who service Gurney’s Newport weddings:
One of our all-time favorite DJ’s, Dan Moran is one of the best in the industry. Capable of weaving so many little bits of your love story into the music for the evening, he’s a strong team player who loves ensuring couples and guests alike have the best time on the dance floor.
Dan has managed to take a mix-up of WAP and Monster Mash to pack a dance floor and turned 90’s tv show theme songs into instrumental cocktail music. There are so many reasons why we love working with Dan, but that WAP-Monster-Mash remix is probably up there in the top three.
Offering hair and makeup services for small and large weddings alike, Virginia and her team are absolutely amazing to work with. A team player who knows how to get wedding parties ready and out the door quickly, Virginia is an LGBTQ+ affirming wedding vendor that we love working with!
Capable of working with large weddings or small elopements, Virginia works with all skin types and hair types. An important piece of the hair and makeup services, Virginia trains regularly to keep in top shape for her clients and up on all the wedding trends.
A wedding planner from New York, Ashley migrated back home to RI during the pandemic. Often still heading into Brooklyn, Ashley knows what a Manhattan crowd wants when they hit weddings. She’s a fantastic planner for couples looking for an elevated and larger wedding. With experience in the luxury industry, Ashley is capable of pushing for weddings to be published with magazines and wedding blogs.
Botanica Wedding Florals
One of our favorite, favorite vendors to work with Botanica Wedding Florals makes any wedding venue look incredible. Capable of dripping wedding flowers from anything, and turning any space into a lush oasis, Botanica is a favorite of ours for wedding flowers in New England.
I swear anytime I walk onto a wedding with Botanica, I feel like I’ve been transported to a lush oasis somewhere in the rainforest. Her work is incredible and worth every cent.
Capable of turning that giant Gurney’s Newport lawn into a sprawling event space, Ryan Designs is one of our favorite decor companies to work within Southern Rhode Island. Servicing New England, Ryan Designs has a vast array of gorgeous decor items for your event.
No matter the vibe or aesthetic you’re looking to achieve, Ryan Designs can turn any space into a beautiful wedding space. Use the team for your ceremony or reception, creating a unique wedding experience for your guests.
