We love the boutique Pontchartrain hotel for so many reasons. In the middle of New Orleans’ Garden District, this 1920’s building is located on St. Charles Avenue. This 14 story gem has luxury amenities, and was voted one of 2020’s 100 best hotels in the world by Fodor’s Travel. Located on the city’s streetcar line, you will be only minutes away from the heart of New Orleans.
This amazing hotel is decorated with a mix of modern comfort and classic southern charm. Antiques and Spanish-French furniture reflect the city’s history, while immediately making you feel at home. During your stay, take a tour of the wall of paintings in Jack Rose restaurant. We think everyone should have their picture taken in front of Lil’ Wayne’s portrait.
The Parlor at the Pontchartrain Hotel
We love weddings at the Parlor at the Pontchartrain Hotel. This 2,7900 square ft. venue, hidden behind the Pontchartrain Hotel is unassuming from the outside, but features a gorgeous interior. With historic brick walls and french toile wallpaper, this historic industrial shell can accommodate up to 200 people. Due to the intimate size of the Parlor, it is ideal for more intimate weddings.
Beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging from the vaulted ceilings paired with gorgeous drapery warm this open space. Catering and beverages are provided for weddings by Jack Rose Restaurant. The Parlor also offers two portable bars, and a full staff of bartenders, servers, and chefs. While the Pontchartrain Hotel does offer chairs, tables, and catering for weddings, we found that some things are not included. Finding flowers, a DJ, and cake will be up to you.
Restaurants at the Pontchartrain Hotel
The Pontchartrain Hotel has two fantastic restaurants to choose from, as well as two bars, perfect for any occasion. From breakfast to dinner and late night drinks, the Pontchartrain can cater to any need. The rooftop bar has beautiful views of the Mississippi River and downtown New Orleans.
Jack Rose Restaurant
Jack Rose Restaurant is a vibrant and fun dining experience. There are two main dining rooms, as well as a patio for drinks and light snacks. For a more intimate evening, make a reservation in The Mile High Pie Club. This private dining room is also ideal for rehearsal or elopement dinners. Jack Rose Restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday, from 5 pm to 10 pm. This restaurant is also open for brunch on Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm.
Silver Whistle Cafe
Tucked into the corner of the Pontchartrain hotel overlooking St. Charles Ave. is the Silver Whistle Cafe. Open Wednesday through Sunday at 7, this charming cafe is a perfect way to start your day while meeting locals. Have brunch before your big day at the large round table in the middle of the room. The nola breakfast is a classic taste of New Orleans.
Bayou Bar
The Bayou Bar has a casual tavern-style bar, with dark wood and exposed brick creating a warm and intimate feel. A historic bar, it was visited by celebrities like Capote and Sinatra. While being a full bar, the Bayou offers an extensive whiskey list, and an equally impressive beer list. Open daily at 5 pm, this is a great place to gather and relax with classic bar food and amazing drinks.
Hot Tin
Formerly a penthouse, Hot Tin sits on the roof of the Pontchartrain Hotel. Lounge on couches as you sip champagne, then explore the knick-knacks scattered throughout this eclectic bar space. Open and airy, yet warm and inviting, this bar features an impressive balcony looking over downtown New Orleans. There is also a smaller terrace that looks out over St. Charles Ave. Open daily at 5 pm. Hot Tin is ideal for bridal party bashes.
Staying at the Pontchartrain Hotel
The Pontchartrain Hotel offers 106 beautifully appointed rooms and suites to accommodate you and your guests. Flatscreen TV’s, air conditioning, and mini bars are in each room, but there are no coffee makers. We suggest heading down to The Silver Whistle for a classic New Orleans breakfast of coffee and beignets.
Rooms at the Pontchartrain Hotel
Open and bright, Pontchartrain Hotel’s regular rooms are the idea of comfort. Antiques and furniture from around the world pull you back in time. Modern appliances bring you all the comfort of home during your stay. Oversized rooms with beautiful views welcome you with plenty of space to be comfortable. The bathrooms are fully quipped with hair dryers and single-use products for your comfort. There are also in-room safes for keeping your valuables safe.
